After watching my mother and grandmother mixing lotions and potions on
the kitchen stove I became fascinated with skincare. During the war years my
grandmother would make cosmetics and skincare products at home for the
ladies of our family, as lipsticks and moisturisers were extremely hard to find. I
have lovely memories of the kitchen being the centre of the home, both my
grandmother and mother would spend hours at the AGA perfecting their
formulas while also stirring a huge vat of delicious chicken soup for tea.
A guarded family recipe is my mother's anti-ageing Avocado Mask. I still
make it today if I've got a spare Sunday afternoon and we're (me and my
mother) in need of some nostalgic pampering.
Skincare experimentation is a true passion of mine, I could just research and
mix up creams all day long.
